We continue our Ink Stories with the journey of our front-end developer, Nikola Cvetanović, based in Ink Innovation’s Serbian office.

My journey with Ink Innovation began two years ago. I started as a junior front-end developer, primarily working on web applications. What drew me to Ink was its mission: improving the passenger experience during air travel. I wanted to be part of something that genuinely helps people, making a positive difference in the world. Unlike companies that promote less constructive activities, Ink's focus on bettering mankind resonated with me.

At Ink, I've found an environment that encourages you to be self-driven but also provides support when you need it. It's a place where making mistakes isn't the end of the world; instead, it's an opportunity to learn and grow. This culture has allowed me to develop professionally in ways I hadn't anticipated. I was given the chance to delve into mobile development using Flutter, expanding my skills beyond front-end web development.

What I love about Ink is how it encourages self-driven development while providing support. Mistakes aren’t the end of the world—they’re opportunities to learn.

One of the things I appreciate most is the flexibility and understanding among colleagues. We're a diverse team from all over the world—Spain, Colombia, Serbia—but there are no barriers to communication. Everyone is open, supportive, and focused on our shared goals. It's a testament to Ink's commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Recently, I've been aiming to become a full-stack engineer. When I expressed this ambition, Ink didn't just nod along; they actively supported me. They gave me the time and resources to learn new backend technologies, even if it meant I wasn't contributing to immediate projects during that period. I know that's a rare opportunity in many companies, and it's something I deeply respect about Ink.

Work-life balance here is manageable, thanks in large part to the great team I'm part of. Sure, we have our busy days—everyone does—but it's never overwhelming. If you're honest and put in the work, the company supports you. They align personal goals with company objectives, ensuring that both the individual and the organisation succeed.

Outside of work, I'm really into fitness—lifting weights, running, and socialising with friends on the weekends. It's important to me to maintain that balance, and Ink's culture allows for it.

I'm proud to be part of a company that not only aims to improve the way people travel but also invests in the growth and well-being of its employees. Looking back, I'm grateful for the journey so far and excited about what's ahead.
