Lübeck Airport, a historic hub with its sights set firmly on the future, is soaring to new heights thanks to innovative technology. Their motto, "Pretty, Fast, Take-off," perfectly captures their dedication to a smooth and efficient passenger experience.
Ink is excited to continue to partner with Lübeck Airport and help them achieve their vision. During our recent trip to Germany, we visited the airport for a system check and listened to their inspiring story.
Transforming the passenger journey with a modern check-in
Nicolas Voss, Passenger Supervisor at Lübeck Airport, shared insights into the unique challenges faced by regional airports. Meeting the same service standards as larger airports can be demanding with a smaller staff.
However, Lübeck Airport capitalises on its strengths – easy navigation, short distances, and fast processing times – to stand out. Here, digital transformation plays a vital role.
In 2020, they embarked on a complete renovation. While the upgraded facilities provided a fresh and modern environment, one crucial piece remained missing: an advanced departure control and check-in system.
That's where Ink came in.
Nicolas shares his experience: "Ink's solutions showed us how simple the entire handling process could be, especially when it comes to passenger service." Our departure control, Ink DCS, has empowered Lübeck Airport staff to focus on what matters most – creating a positive and efficient experience for every traveller.
Scaling up for future growth
To improve its competitive standing Lübeck Airport prioritises management efficiency as key. Nicolas emphasises the need for customised solutions, which Ink provides—technology that is both scalable and adaptable, capable of growing with the airport.
Our commitment to innovation perfectly complements Lübeck Airport's vision. "Ink offers us the opportunity to be digital and have more time for our guests," explains Nicolas. This translates to shorter wait times for passengers, freeing up staff to provide a more personalised touch.
From legacy to new: a historic airport embraces innovation
Lübeck Airport boasts a rich and fascinating history. Founded in 1917 as a military base, it played a pivotal role in the Berlin Airlift after World War II. Today, this 107-year-old airport, under private ownership since 2016, embraces a future powered by innovation. Construction of a new remote tower, congress area and restaurants is in progress.
At Ink, we're proud to partner with forward-thinking airports like Lübeck and become part of their rich history. By working together, we can unlock innovative solutions that deliver an enjoyable experience for every passenger.
